Water Haulers

Water Haulers, or water trucks, are certified annually in much the same way as backflow devices. Since the attribution of a water truck is too different than that of an Air-Gap to be included in the same dataset, Water Haulers are now in their own data category as of BackTrack v2.1.

In BackTrack, Water Haulers differ from Air-Gaps in another profound way; they get inspected on an annual basis by the water purveyor and a permit is issued if the vehicle meets the permitting agency's regulations.

In order to accommodate the workflow involved with the permitting process, a common notification month is assigned to all water haulers, and a letter is distributed to the account owner as a notice of vehicle certification.

This water hauler common notification month is configured via the Application Settings, under the Inspections tab. Each year, a notice of vehicle certification will be generated on the designated notification month. This notice is based on the Annual Inspection Letter Template located in Tools/Enforcement Document Templates/Inspection Documents/Water Hauler Inspections.

One notice will be generated, via Enforcement Actions, for each active water hauler that is assigned to an active water service account.

Each Water Hauler Certification, or Permit, consists of a Permit Number, an Expiration Date, and an optional Note. This method of certification is greatly simplified over the previous method of lumping the water haulers in with the air-gap backflow devices.

A Water Hauler record can be associated with a potable water service account record by entering the account number into the Water Hauler Detail Form. Once the account number is entered and the record is saved, the water hauler(s) associated with the account can be viewed and managed from the Potable Water Service Account Detail Form.

In the Water Hauler Data Grid, you can easily manage the water haulers based on permit numbers and permit expiration dates by sorting and filtering the respective columns within the grid.
