Backflow Devices
Backflow device records represent backflow prevention devices installed on water services. Water services are represented by water service account records. Backflow device records are related to water service account records based on account number.
Backflow device records contain basic attributes such as Serial Number, Make, Model, Size, Type, Status, Date Installed, and Account Number.
Each backflow device record can have only one associated water service account number. This is important because the water service and customer information for the backflow device is contained in the associated water service account record based on the account number within the backflow device record.
Serial numbers for backflow devices must be unique. BackTrack will not allow duplicate serial numbers within the backflow deice records.
Loading Backflow Device Records
In the Explorer Bar, selecting Backflow Devices displays options for loading backflow device records. These options include All. Failed, Pending. In-House, and Search.
Selecting All will load all backflow device records. Selecting Failed will load all backflow device records that are in a current failed state (the backflow device currently has a pending failed test). Selecting Pending will load all backflow device records that are currently being tested or are due tests.
In-House backflow device records are those backflow devices that are installed on In-House water services. Selecting In-House will load all of these records.

Adding a Backflow Device
If you have an access level of Regular User, Super User, or Administrator, you can add backflow device records. To find out your access level, select Help / About from BackTrack's main menu. Your current access level will be displayed.
To add a backflow device, you must have the backflow device grid open (see Loading Backflow Device Records).
The toolbar located at the top of the backflow device grid contains a Add tool. Clicking on the Add tool will open a blank backflow device record in a detail screen for you to populate. Just enter the backflow device information in the detail form and select Save.
Finding Backflow Devices
The Search node of the Backflow Device tree within the Explorer Bar will open a Search Form that allows you to enter search criteria for finding a particular backflow device or devices.
Entering a whole or partial serial number into the Serial Number field in the Backflow Device Search form, and clicking on the Perform Search tool will query the database for matching records. All records that match the criteria entered will display in the Data Grid.
You can enter as much information into the fields within the Backflow Device Search form as you wish to help reduce the number of backflow device records returned.
Fields within the Backflow Device Search form that do not contain drop-down boxes can be partially populated, and the records returned will contain information that matches the partially populated information.

Any backflow device record can be opened into a detail form by either double clicking on the record within the grid, or pressing the Enter key on a selected record within the grid.

Clicking on the save tool will save the modified record and close the detail form. Clicking on the cancel tool will display a confirmation message, then cancel the close the detail form without committing the modified data to the database.
Backflow device records can also be modified within the data grid. If a value is displayed in a normal font within the grid (not grayed-out), it can be modified by right-clicking on the value of the selected record.
